Alexis felt a blush rise to her cheeks when Landon told her that she looked captivating. Before her mother returned to the room again, Alexis quietly whispered, “Mom’s a freak. This is your first impression, so far you’re doing well. Just don’t say anything to make her freak out.” Her mother reappeared back into the living room holding the over-sized camera. “Picture time!” Her mother said with a wide smile forming on her lips. “Wait!” Landon said as he pulled out a corsage from his pocket and placed it on her wrist, once he brought her hand up to his lips and kissed it, she swore her heart stopped beating for a second. She heard her mother quickly snap a photo and she felt a blush rise to her checks. She pulled her hand back a few seconds later and wrapped her around Landon’s waist and put a big smile on her face.
After the pictures were taken, Alexis quickly grabbed her clutch and kissed her mother on the cheek before leaving, leaving a red lipstick mark, “Lexi have fun tonight! Take care of her Landon.” Her mother said as the two walked out the front door.
“I will, Ms. Matlin. For sure!” Landon said as he took Alexis’ hand. He walked her over to the car his dad was sitting in. He quickly opened the door for her and waited for her to get in before closing the door and walking around to the other side of the car. They were both in the back seat so they could sit next to each other and as they both put on their seat belts, Landon decided to introduce the two. “Dad, this is Alexis. Alexis, this is my dad.” “It’s nice to finally meet you, Alexis. We’ve heard a lot about you at our house.” Landon rolled his eyes and sighed. “Dad, stop talking.” He then looked over to Alexis and smiled. “You ready for homecoming?”

Alexis had been nervously sitting on the couch for fifteen minutes. Her heart racing faster with every second that ticked on. She twiddled her thumbs. Her house was way to quite, it was almost eerily like. Ever since her mother kicked her older sister, Kate out of the house because of her eating disorder. She tried to remain calm but with each moment ticking closer and closer she felt extremely excited and nervous. She couldn’t handle sitting anymore, she got up off the couch and started walking nervously across the living room carpet, with each step she could feel her heels sinking into the plush carpet. She heard steps walking down the stairs. She saw her mother appear at the edge of the living room. “Hello dear,” her mother said. “You look quite beautiful Lexi.” Her mother said adoring her daughter in her red dress. “Let me go get the camera.” Her mother walked out of the room and off somewhere to go retrieve her high quality camera. The door bell rang and she felt her heart nearly pound out of her chest. Alexis walked over to the door excitedly, she wanted this moment to be like all the books she has read.
Alexis opened the door and she saw a very handsome Landon standing there. “Hello Landon,” She said shyly. “Come on in, my mother was just about to take some pictures of me. Well I guess now us.”
Landon smiled at Alexis’s shyness and nodded at her. “For sure.” He replied. “You look…” He paused trying to find a word that would do her any justice. “Captivating.” He decided. Landon had a wide vocabulary and was a great writer. As the two of them walked more in the room, Landon noticed Alexis’ mother standing there. He walked up to her, Alexis still close to his side, and introduced himself. “Hello, Ms. Matlin. I’m Landon Goldsworthy. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Ms. Matlin returned the greeting and started taking pictured of the young couple. “Wait!” Landon almost shouted. “I almost forgot the most important thing!” He said as he pulled the rose corsage out of his pocket and gently grabbed Alexis’ hand. He looked deep into her warm brown eyes and smirked as he tied the corsage onto her delicate wrist. He then brought her hand up to his lips and kissed her knuckles softly. He then put this arm around her and faced her mom again to finish up the picture taking.

Forever Young || Landon and Alexis
Landon smiled to himself in the mirror. He looked to his right and saw the red rose corsage he had bought for his date to homecoming. The thought just made his grin even wider. He had never been on a date with a girl before. Sure, in 6th grade he ‘wen out’ with Jaimie Jonson, but that was just a cheesy cliche middle school thing. He never actually went on a date with Jaimie, nor did they kiss. Landon knew thinking about kissing Alexis tonight should have been a big no no, but he couldn’t help himself. He really liked Alexis. A lot. Too bad that thought just made him even more nervous. He walked out of the bathroom and his mother smiled at him while his dad just stood there looking stubborn. Eli looked at his son all suited up for the school dance in a black dress shirt and a red tie and couldn’t help but smirk at the sight even though he was against his son going to a Degrassi dance. Especially with a Fitzgerald. “Remember what I said,” Eli stated making Clare and Landon both roll their eyes. “She’s a Fitzgerald, L. You need to be careful.”
Clare interrupted him, putting a hand on his chest and said, “She’s also a Matlin. Which means she’s driven, determined, hard working and loyal. You know I’m friends with Katie, Eli. You need to relax. Now go drive your son wherever he needs to be because this is a big night for him.” Eli sighed in defeat and pecked his wife on the lips before turning back towards their son who was cringing at their use of PDA. The two men of the house got in the car and Eli started driving. “Where to first, Landon?” Landon looked at the delicate flower in his lap as he said, “Alexis’s house.”
When they got there, Landon got out and walked up the front stoop. He knocked on the door confidently and smirked, the excitement about tonight finally getting to him.
